Louis Koo Wai Kit
Mr. Louis Koo Wai Kit, the Managing Director, plays a pivotal role in overseeing a Sustainability & ESG Consulting Company, leveraging his extensive 15-year tenure in the sustainability field. He holds a degree in Sustainable Science from the University Malaysia Kelantan, a testament to his commitment to sustainable practices. With a robust background spanning various industries including palm oil, aluminum, and building materials, Louis Koo has amassed invaluable experience throughout the Asia Pacific Region. His leadership and expertise contribute significantly to the company’s endeavors in promoting sustainability practices and ESG (environmental, social & governance) principles across diverse sectors.
Louis Koo has undergone ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 internal audit training, HCV Assessor training, RSPO-endorsed RSPO Supply Chain Lead Auditor course, Integrated Reporting course, and Problem-Solving & Decision-Making Skills course. This diverse training portfolio equips him with a comprehensive skill set to address various challenges in sustainability and quality management.
With extensive experience in sustainability standards consultation and internal assessments, Louis Koo specializes in sustainability frameworks such as the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO), International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC), and Aluminum Stewardship Initiative (ASI). His proficiency in these areas enables him to provide valuable guidance and support to organizations striving for excellence in sustainability practices and compliance with industry standards.
Louis Koo has an impressive track record, having conducted over 200 internal assessments and contributed to external assessments for estates, palm oil mills, and refineries under Kuala Lumpur Kepong Bhd (KLK Bhd) and Pacific Inter-Link Sdn Bhd (PIL Group). Additionally, he actively engages in industry working groups, including the MSPO Standard Revision Working Group, RSPO Standard Revision Working Group Observer, Shared Responsibility Working Group, and NDPE IRF Active Working Group. Through these collaborations, he works with stakeholders to revise and establish sustainability standards, demonstrating his commitment to driving industry best practices. Furthermore, Louis Koo is also a valuable member of the focus group involved in developing the Simplified ESG Disclosure Guide for Malaysia SMEs in the Supply Chain Sector. His involvement underscores his dedication to promoting environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles and assisting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in adopting sustainable practices.
In addition to his extensive experience in the palm oil industry, Louis Koo has expertise in establishing the ASI framework and successfully leading the team to achieve ASI certification for the largest aluminum smelting plant under Press Metal Aluminum Holdings Bhd, the largest aluminum producer in Southeast Asia. This accomplishment highlights his proficiency in implementing sustainable practices across diverse industries.
Presently, Louis Koo serves as the Sustainability Manager for Knauf Group, a renowned global leader in drywall and gypsum board manufacturing. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing sustainability initiatives in Malaysia and Singapore, further demonstrating his commitment to driving sustainability in the manufacturing sector.
